Paper Imaginary
Jazz, paper and brushes
A jazz song, a poster from the 40´s
Hanna Barbera´s cartoons, an advertisement with hats, drinks and more drinks.
A whole imaginary transporting us to a calmer non-digital era, an analogic breath.
A collection of publicity nostalgia, all mixed up whit today´s brushes and cut cardboard boxes joined together to name a nearly surrealistic drawings collection.

This digital times we are living made me wonder, what has been won? What´s lost? Can we digitalize good or bad memories inside a box?
When we relocate it seems something dies inside. We use those boxes to keep pieces of life and death. Many of them will spend months or years without been exposed to light.
With this emotion I try to give an opportunity to the continent of our joys and sorrows.
Discovering or deciphering abandoned cardboard print messages makes me feel like an artistic gymkhana that reminds me, at all times, the word of my state of mind: fragile.

Que mar el mar
Todo lo que el mar vomitó,
todo lo que el mar segregó,
lo que el mar supuró,
todo lo que sudó,
todo lo que el mar desterró,
todo lo que el mar lloró,
lo que el mar secretó a chorros,
excretó a escondidas,
devolvió a raudales
y arrojó con arrojo.
Todo lo que el mar evacuó,
todo lo que cagó,
lo que orinó,
todo lo que desaguó,
todo lo que el mar expulsó,
todo lo que el mar expatrió,
todo lo que exhaló,
lo que abandonó,
todo lo que derramó,
y
desangró,
derrochó,
todo lo que desperdició,
todo lo que confesó,
todo lo que el mar estornudó
y
todo lo que el mar eyaculó,
ha acabado siendo tú.

Hypochlorite Illustrations
It might seem impossible trying to purify such pure thing as a witty aphorism from Don Ramón Gómez de la Serna, but if we set it over a black bottom and splash bleach, and then draw with pencils on the shaped spot using paint brushes and nib pens, then we will interpret the poetry´s message and obtain a purification.
The following visual shows some examples with bleach illustrations made for a workshop at Instituto Cervantes de Brasilia in memory of Don Ramón Gómez de la Serna.
“Purifying witty aphorisms”.
Watch. Enjoy. And do not get splashed by drops because we discolour…
